Continuing Education: Credit Courses Registers

Overview

This article explains the Trillium Product Suite's many continuing education registers. For each register, we'll explain how courses should be added in Trillium so they appear on the proper register. We also provide tips and tricks, which will ensure the data is submitted to OnSIS properly.

Adult Credit Course Taken for Diploma Purposes

This register is used to record continuing education courses, taken either during the regular school year or in the summer, for the purpose of earning an OSSD. Other than co-op courses, instructions must be classroom-delivered.

Trillium Modules Used to Manage this Register:

  • Core Trillium: For school administration to complete course setup, maintain attendance, and configure achievement setup

    • Course types (must also select option in Continuing Education Only > Use of register):

      • Credit-Diploma;

      • Night School;

      • Night Out-of-School Co-op.

    • Builder - Course Sections: Must define fields in the Continuing Education section for the information to appear on the registers;

    • Register to print from Core Trillium: Credit Courses Taken for Diploma Purposes.

  • TWebATT: For teacher to complete attendance

  • TWebSA: For teacher to complete achievement marks and comments

Helpful Notes:

  • Students can be enrolled in the full-time register in a regular day school, but they must be taking this type of course at any time after the end of the regular school day.

  • A new register must be used for every class.

  • The class Start Date in the Continuing Education section of the Builder > Course Sections tab will determine the Hours of classroom instruction section of the register. For night schools, if the course starts before July 1 the values will go in the September-to-June box, otherwise they will be reported in the the Summer box.

  • This registermust not  be used for recording enrolment of pupils taking e-learning courses through continuing education.

  • As of the 2015-1016 school year, this register will no longer be printed, and will not be available on the Ministry's website. It will be reported through OnSIS.

Correspondance/Self-Study/e-Learning

This register is used to record continuing education courses, provided by the Board through non-classroom lesson- based modes of delivery, such as correspondence courses using materials provided by the Independent Learning Center, or correspondence/self-study courses designed by the Board, or e-learning courses.

Trillium Modules Used to Manage this Register:

  • Core Trillium: For school administration to complete course setup, and configure achievement setup

    • Course types (must also select option in Continuing Education Only > Use of register):

      • Correspond./Self-Study (must select option in Continuing Education Only > Use of register);

      • ConEd e-Learning or ConEd e-Learning LMS: For students who are not registered in a regular day school or for all e-learning courses offered during the summer.

  • TWebCE

    • For teachers to enter completed lessons, marks, teacher contacts.

    • For administrators to print the Register of Enrolment in Correspondence/Self Study/E-learning Courses.

Helpful Notes:

  • A course will only have a value reported in the September-to-June OR the Summer fields, never both.  So the Class Start dates must be between July 1 and Aug. 31 to count in the summer section.

  • As of the 2015-2016 school year, this register will no longer be printed, and will not be available on the Ministry's website. It will be reported through OnSIS.

  • Pupils must be correctly designated in the column Category of pupil on the form. Trillium will automatically determine the appropriate register, based on the student’s enrolment in the board, like this:

    1. FT for a pupil who is also enrolled as a full-time day school pupil in any publicly funded school; i.e., a pupil who is registered for classroom instruction for an average of 210 minutes or more per school day in the school cycle or is deemed to be a full-time pupil;

    2. PT for a pupil who is also enrolled as a part-time day school pupil in any publicly funded school; i.e., a pupil who is registered for classroom instruction for an average of less than 210 minutes per school day in the school cycle;

    3. CE for a pupil who is not enrolled as either a full-time or part-time day school pupil in any publicly funded school, but is taking courses through continuing education.

Summer School

This register is used to record summer school programs offered by a board. With the exception of co-op and eLearning courses, instructions must be delivered through a classroom. This register is used to record the following summer school programs provided by the board:

  • Credit courses delivered in the classroom;

  • Credit courses delivered through co-op;

  • Preparation for changing course types;

  • Math courses for changing course types;

  • Credit recovery.
