Create a new Fee

Overview

Fees can be created at the District Level or the School Level. This article shows you how.

Step-by-Step

  1. Start here: Setup menu > Fee Setup

  2. In the bottom, middle of the resulting form, Click Add

  3. In the Fee Name field, enter a name which will distinguish it from other fees. Note: If you are creating a fee for something you intend to charge next year, we recommend beginning the fee name with the School Year. For instance: 2016-17 Academic Fee

  4. Select a Fee Type  by selecting the appropriate radio button:

    • Per Term  if the fee is to be applied each term

    • Per Year  if the fee is to be applied once for the entire year.

    • Permanent  if the fee is to be rolled over to the next year.

  5. Select a Fee Level  by selecting the appropriate radio button:

    • School  if the School creates the fee. This can only be assigned to students in that school.

    • District  if the District creates the fee. This can be assigned to all students.

    • Other  if the fee is set by another organization, perhaps the PTA.

  6. Click Submit. If you Click Reset, you return to the last-saved version of the form. If you Click Cancel, you'll return the form to what was last saved and it will bring you out of the editing mode.

  7. With the fee you wish to edit highlighted in the list at right, Click AddFeeDetails in the bottom, left of the main Fee form.

  8. Amount: Enter the dollar amount of the fee.

  9. Low Grade: Manually enter or click the triangle and choose from the picklist: The lowest grade level for which this fee applies.

  10. High Grade: Manually enter or click the triangle and choose from the picklist: The highest grade level for which this fee applies.

  11. You can also apply fees according to the number of Credits the Student is taking:

  12. Low Credit: Fill in the minimum amount of credits a student must be taking, to have this fee apply to them. If you enter a zero, the value of the credits the student is currently enrolled in will be the credit fee. For example: If a student has four classes of three credits each, the student will automatically be assigned a $12 credit fee.

  13. High Credit: Fill in the maximum amount of credits a student can be taking, to have this fee apply to them. If you enter 999, the student will be charged the equivalent of the total credit values for all classes in which they are currently enrolled.
