HomeLogic: When a SchoolLogic student leaves

Overview

When a student graduates or is withdrawn, HomeLogic remains active for the Student and his/her Contacts. Changing that is a two-step process.

Remove Preferences directly in HomeLogic

1. Log into the HL account with the parent login and password*
2. Click Preferences. CLEAR all check boxes. Click Submit.  Note: These choices are per Student. If the Contact has multiple Students, each Student needs to be edited individually. If there are multiple Contacts with Preferences for the Student(s), each Contact needs to be edited separately.

* To learn the login/password:

SchoolLogic displays only the Username, not the Password, so the easiest thing to do is give the User a new Password, like this:

  • Open student.
  • Click Contact.
  • Click the Contact. The Username displays, but the password does not.
  • Enter 12345 into the Password field.
  • Click Submit.

Note: The process is similar for Students. You'll need to find the username and password on whichever Demographics form your School placed them on.

Note 2: Whether you run SIRS or SchoolLogic, Contact and Student Usernames and Passwords are stored in SQL.

  • A script similar to this would locate the Contact information:

select cfirstname, clastname, ischoolID, cusername, cpassword from contact where cpassword !='' order by clastname

  • A script similar to this would locate the Student information:

select cfirstname, clastname, ischoolID, cusername, cpassword from student where cpassword !='' order by clastname

Edit the Contact in SchoolLogic

  • Open student.
  • Click Contact.
  • Click the Contact.
  • Delete the contents of the Username field.
  • Click Submit.

Note: You can achieve an even higher level of certainty by deleting the contents of the Email  field, at right. Then, Click Submit.
